Our Committee


         Tan Sri Datuk (Dr.)Rafiah Salim is the current President of the Association (2011-2013).  A lawyer by qualification, brings with her almost three decades of experience in the academic and human resource fields. Rafiah who currently served as the Director of NAM Institute for the Empowerment of Women (NIEW) an agency under the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, was Assistant Secretary General for Human Resource Management at the United Nations, New York for five years.

In 2003 Rafiah was given the responsibility of setting up the International Centre for Leadership in Finance (ICLIF), and institution entrusted with the mandate of training corporate CEOs of the region.

From 1995 to 1997, Rafiah was an Assistant Governor with Bank Negara Malaysia, The Central Bank of Malaysia. Prior to this, she joined Malayan Banking Bhd., Malaysia's largest banking group, as Head of Legal Department in 1989, and was promoted to General Manager of Human Resource in 1991, a post which she held until 1995.At all these organisations, Rafiah was responsible for strategising, planning and executing transformations, whether dealing with the corporate culture generally, or leadership culture specifically. In fact it was this experience at the national and international level that resulted in her appointment at University of Malaya, Malaysia's top university.

Vice President
Siva Thirumalai is the current Vice- President of the Association (2011-2013).  An Accounting graduate from the School of Social Sciences, he brings with him fifteen years of experience in the Financial Services Industry. Siva who currently runs a successful agency in Prudential Assurance (M) Bhd has also served as a Full Time Sabbatical officer in the Student’s Union, Queen’s University of Belfast from the year 1996-1997 (he was the first elected foreign student to hold a Sabbatical post).

Currently he is active in the Alumni and has been involved in all events and also helped to organize the Gala Dinner event in 2006 in which they managed to raise funds for the Malaysian Room in the new library in Queen’s.
He also serves as a volunteer teacher in ATMAH (www.atmah.org), an organization that was established in 2001 in response to the rapid increase in crime and other social problems plaguing squatter or lower income communities. ATMAH (Action To Mobilize All Humanity) was set up to empower these communities with education for a better tomorrow.  He is a strong believer in the phrase “The more you give, The more you get” and he can vouch for that one can gain plenty in terms of experience and business serving selflessly as a committee member in the Alumni.

Vice President

Haji Mansor Salleh is the current Vice President of the association (2011 – 2013)

He is the Executive Chairman of Antara Jurutera Perunding Sdn. Bhd.  He graduated with a Bachelor Of Science (Engineering) Degree from Queens University, Northern Ireland.

He is a professional Engineer with more than 40 years of experience in Engineering Consultancy Services involved in the design, construction, supervision, operation and maintenance of various civil, structural, electrical, mechanical and other building services installations.  He is a member of  The Institution Of Engineers Malaysia and Council Member Of The Association of Consulting Engineers, Malaysia.

He is currently the Director of Advance Synergy Capital Sdn. Bhd.  He was formerly on the Board Of Directors for the following banks:- (1)  Perdana Merchant Bankers Berhad  (2) Perdana Finance Berhad  (3)  Southern Investment Bank Berhad.  He was also the Independent Director of Berjaya Capital Berhad.

Hon Secretary 

Dato’ Lim Si Boon graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from QUB and 

obtained his MBA from Imperial College, London, UK.  Dato’ Lim is the Chairman of Bonanza Venture Holdings Sdn. Bhd. which  involves in property development, operation of golf club and education.  He had  served as  the Executive Director and Managing Director of Rock Chemical Industries (Malaysia) Berhad and a Non-Executive Director of Mega First Corporation Berhad. Prior to this, he was an Engagement Manager with an international consulting firm, A.T.Kearney in  which he was involved in business strategy, restructuring and operations improvement for multinational companies and state-owned enterprises in Asia and Europe.  He is currently the Vice Chairman of Perak Entrepreneurs & Skills Development Centre and also  sits on  Pemudah Perak,  InvestPerak Malaysia, Perak Chinese Maternity Association (Perak Community Specialists Hospital) and Perak Academy.  Dato’ Lim was the Chairman of Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Perak Branch and the Hon. Secretary of Entrepreneurs Organization Malaysia. 

Honorary Treasurer 

Hui Seng graduated in 1988 from Queens in Civil  Engineering, and in 1989 from Newcastle Upon Tyne University with M.Sc.(Structural Engineering). He did A Levels in  Methodist College Belfast, opposite Queens. He is Director with Reinforced Earth Malaysia, where he oversees implementation of infrastructural projects. He worked in 1989-93 with Mott MacDonald Consultants, London where he was involved in Channel Tunnel design, and at London Docklands site.

His extra-curricular interests include being Chairman, Famemas Sports Supporters Club Malaysia since 2002. He is Selangor Committee Member, Division Committee Member and Branch Chairman of Gerakan, whom he joined in 1999. He was Special Assistant to Bukit Lanjan Assemblywoman (2004-2008) and organised infrastructural dialogues with residents. He was PTA Deputy Chairman, SMK Bandar Utama (4) in 2010/2011; Chairman, Putra Utama Residents Association, from Feb 2012; Treasurer, QUAAM from 2011, and as Committee member from 2007-2009. He was President, Malaysian Chinese Society UK 1991-92, and  Secretary of Malaysian Students Society Northern Ireland in 1984-1985.
